Kiwi's Tune In Tomorrow at 7pm - Channel 3

Campbell Live from TV3 will be filiming at the opening of our annual members exhibition and charity art auction "Out of the Blue".

They have been in contact with the Mental Health Foundation of NZ (MHF) and want to film the live auction of our 2009 collaborative artwork Ngatahi. 61 members have contributed to this artwork from all around NZ. 100% of the funds raised from the sale will be donated to MHF.

If you are able to make it to the opening night (in Auckland) - 6:30pm July 2nd Bruce Mason Centre, Takapuna it would be fantastic to see you there - the more the merrierr - bring family and friends.

If you can't make it be sure to tune in to Campbell Live TV3 on Thursday evening at 7pm.

I Must Be Out Of My Mind

Because I've just listed a huge abstract painting of mine on TradeMe at $1 reserve?!?! A DOLLAR?! The sale is only for 2 days so that makes it even more insane but I'm hoping to get the deal done before I'm stuck in hospital. Brains really must shrink when one is pregnant...

Almost There

I've been working on this mixed media piece. It's almost finished, just need to finish the sides and I plan to give it a resin finish. It includes a verse from one of my poems, some old pencil sketches of roses on paper, many many layers of acrylic, modelling paste, cracking medium, pen and for the life of me I can't think of what they're called but we'll call them transfers for today.

Guess that preggy brain is still in full effect. Speaking of which, not long now!!! I wouldn't be surprised if by next week I was a Mum again. I'm enjoying my quiet time while I can, while also being really annoyed by all the waiting lol.

Sorry I've been missing the past few days again. My laptop adaptor broke last week, so I couldn't use my laptop until my new one arrived today. I'm back in action again though and will be around until you know when :)

Sorry I've been quiet the past few days. I'm nearing the end of this pregnancy and feel like I've been hit with a truck, I'm just so, so tired. I managed to pull out my art gear today (I'm not venturing out to my studio at the moment so I've been storing things in my spare room) anyway, hopefully tomorrow I'll have some photos to share of some new work/progess.

I hope you enjoyed the above photos. The lipstick one is in my ensuite. It's been there since Valentines day. I don't want to get rid of it just yet. I had written '10 things I love about you' on post it notes and scattered them amongst the house. I also did the hearts and A + C on the bathroom mirror. When my husband spotted the mirror drawing he joined in and said 'let's make it really authentic' and added the 4Eva lol. It was fun to act like kids again.

Yesterday my daughter came into the lounge and said "Mummy, it says I love You Chavah on the mirror?!" Confused I asked her what she meant. It seems my husband left me my own love note, yay! I love that he tolerates the hopeless romantic in me.

She's Seven Already!

My lovely little girl had her seventh birthday yesterday. She had a few friends over and according to her, had 'The best birthday ever!" I'm so glad. She seems to have changed overnight. We've noticed the past 2 days her personality has matured a little bit and she's really growing up. It's beautiful. She got some great presents, a lot of arts and crafts to keep her entertained. I was surprised how thought out the gifts were. I'm grateful to those generous people. We got her, her first radio. She's been playing Hannah Montana and High School Musical CDs all weekend. I love it. She also lost another tooth late into the evening so the tooth fairy visited again. What a lucky girl. Here are a few snapshots of the day.

Look, I'm Painting!

To me it's a miracle. For the past forever I've had no energy to paint. I learned today at a checkup that I'm really lacking in iron so that makes a lot of sense. I always had urges to do something but didn't take the step. Tonight I finally did and after a rough start I have something to work with. Still a LOOOONG way to go with this painting but I started and that's a huge accomplishment!

The Proof is in the Pudding

I thought I'd share a couple of photos of my pregnancy. These are the only photos I have, how terrible is that! I might try to get some proper ones done seeing as I now have the camera for it and this is what I plan to be my last pregnancy. These photos are now 2 weeks old (32 weeks pg) so I've grown EVEN MORE. Pregnancy just doesn't agree with me, no cute little basketball hiding under my top. Nonetheless I'm still amazed at what the human body does.

Just to redeem myself a little bit, this is what I'd usually look like.

I mentioned to a friend the other day that I think I may live vicariously through my pregnant woman paintings because they look so cute. A woman with an expectant belly is just beautiful to me, unless it is me!

It's Officially June

So that means May Arts Month has come to an end. Yesterday we headed out to Stadium Southland to see the final act of the month. It was fun, there were about 2000 people there. That's the great thing about Southland. The locals really get behind you which in turn creates an awesome community spirit. So here are a few snapshots from the event. This is the Hip Hop dance crew called Prestige performing and a Samoan dance group from Southland Boys High School. The guys from Prestige held themselves well and did an excellent job of entertaining the kids and making us laugh while the Samoan group were really talented at making the beats of popular songs with slaps and stomps.
